Asiatischer Drache / Asiatic Dragon

-------------------------------------------
I don't want to write so much, it is already late at night. Just this: I was a bit mad on detailing again.

------------------------------------------------------

This is a fictional portrait of the countess Erzsébet Báthory or the so called "Bloody Countess". She is mainly famous for the alleged murder of 600 young women and girls and the use of their blood to stay eternally young. The number of her victims and the motivation looks today highly unlikely. Her literally bloodbath for example is a  legend, which was put up after her dead in the 18th century. Historians take this and other stories more as legends, then historic facts.

It is more plausible, that countess Bathory felt victim to a justical scheme. The king at that time, Mathias the Second was in high debts at Erzsébet's then deceased husband respectively at her. So he had a good motive to get rid of her via a mock trial and to get his hands on her goods.

This does not prove, that Erzsébet wasn't gruesome against her servants. But on the other hand -as sadly as it sounds- it wasn't an uncommon behaviour at that time.

The protocols of the trial are no evidence for her guilty of the alleged crimes. A good part of the witness accounts, made by servants and alleged abettors were received under the use of tortur.

Erzsébet Bathory was bricked in in a room of the castle Cachtice, were she spent her remaining years. She had only contact with the outside world through a small hole in the wall.

In my opinion, the case of the countess Báthory shows how a historic person disappears behind a legend.
